Associate of Applied Science - On Campus
The Associate of Applied Science curriculum at Dallas Institute of Funeral Service is designed to meet the prerequisites for licensure and employment in funeral service. It fulfills the requirements of accreditation and approval agencies. The curriculum offers both theoretical and practical fundamentals of funeral service.

New Degree Coming October 2024
In October 2024, Dallas Institute of Funeral Service will begin the process of replacing the current Associate of Applied Science Degree both On-Campus and Online with a newly designed Associate of Applied Science in Funeral Service – Hybrid Degree. The newly designed curriculum incorporates feedback from current students and funeral service professionals to meet the educational standards of funeral service programs set forth by the American Board of Funeral Service Education (ABFSE) and to qualify students to sit for the National Board Exam (NBE). Students currently enrolled in the Associate of Applied Science Degree programs will remain in that program if they maintain eligibility for enrollment until they fulfill program requirements*. Students can also choose to switch to the new program by speaking with their Academic Advisor. Please click HERE for information concerning the Teach Out Plan.
*Qualifying students with ample transfer credit may be advised to enroll in the current program after that date.
New Associate of Applied Science – Hybrid Degree
The Associate of Applied Science in Funeral Service – Hybrid curriculum at Dallas Institute of Funeral Service is designed to meet the prerequisites for licensure and employment in funeral service. The curriculum offers both theoretical and practical fundamentals of funeral service. The program is offered in academic quarters, with each quarter consisting of eleven weeks of study. The program is developed with the input of successful professionals, ensuring exceptional career relevance, and designed to impart real-world knowledge and skills.
Funeral Director's Program - On Campus
This academic program is designed to meet specific state or professional needs. It is not accredited by the American Board of Funeral Service Education. Students graduating from this program will not have the academic credential for licensure in states where graduation from an ABFSE accredited program is required.
