Joseph Wade Slovak received his bachelors degree from University of North Texas in 1994 with a major in Anthropology focusing on forensic science. He then went on to receive his degree in mortuary science in 2004 from the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service. He has always had a strong interest in science and received his Masters in Biological Science from Texas A & M University Commerce in 2023. Joseph has 20 years’ experience working as a funeral director and embalmer in the DFW area. He has worked in many different funeral home settings andworked as an anatomical embalmer for UT Southwestern Medical School with the Willed Body program. In 2024 Joseph decided to use his experience to teach others and is currently an instructor for Pierce Mortuary Colleges. He teaches courses in Funeral Service Law, Pathology and Microbiology.
Joseph has a passion for serving families and providing personalization to celebrate the lives of those who have passed on. He believes that attention to detail is very important in funeral service. He incorporates this into his coursework so that others can learn these valuable lessons. When Joseph is not working, he enjoys spending time with family and playing guitar. He also likes to be involved with the community and is a member of the local Rotary club. He is a native Texan and enjoys the outdoors especially vacationing with his family at the beach.
