I was born and raised in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford suburbs of Dallas-Fort Worth, and graduated from Euless Trinity HS before earning an associate's degree from the Tarrant County College NE campus. I then transferred to Texas A&M University to earn a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. After acquiring my degrees, I briefly spent some time working as an oil field engineer in Brazil. Ultimately, my passions did not lie with engineering but with teaching. Once I returned to the United States, I pursued a mathematics teaching certificate and taught at Hurst LD Bell HS for seven years. While teaching high school, I completed a master's degree in mathematics through the University of Texas at Arlington and have been teaching at the college level ever since with 15+ years of total teaching experience.
I also have a family which includes my wife, two boys, and four dogs. My wife teaches 4th grade math in HEB-ISD and is an excellent dog trainer in her spare time. Our two boys are now 7 and 10 years old and love everything Lego, cowboy, and hockey. I also enjoy hockey, and tennis, and am currently training to become a black belt in American karate.
