Intern Embalmer / Funeral Assistant

We are located in Dickinson, ND, so we are looking for an online program student. This position has potential to grow after mortuary school graduation/licensure. We handle an average of 150 calls per year. We do everything starting with removals all the way to final disposition. You’ll get experience in medical facility and house removals, and after intern registration, you'll have opportunities for embalming, dressing, cosmetics, casketing, and assisting directors with funeral arrangements. We do not cremate on site, but we transport to nearby crematories.

You’ll work a variety of services, including traditional, celebration of life, minimal, non-traditional, and memorial. We set our own outer burial containers and vaults, and we do much of our own monument setting and lettering. One of the funeral directors is coroner for a neighboring county, so you’ll assist with some medico-legal death investigation as well.

Position is full time. Weekly hours required to complete college course work will be included in that schedule.

To qualify as an intern embalmer in the state of ND, you need to:

• Be at least 18 years old
• Be enrolled in good standing in a part-time or full-time mortuary science program or set to start the program within 6 months
• Have 30 non-mortuary science program related college credits (English, history, math, etc)
• Have a recommendation of character (this can be from previous employer – not necessarily in funeral industry)
