Funeral Director / Embalmer Apprentice
Under the guidance of a licensed funeral director/embalmer get hands on experience in a funeral home working as a funeral director/embalmer with pay, while I school or recently graduating from mortuary school.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Performs on-call responsibilities including: taking first-call/removals, transfers
• Help to assist in the embalming of deceased (only applicable to embalmers)
• Cares for the deceased in a respectful manner while performing a variety of tasks such as: transferring deceased, dressing, cosmetics; casketing, preparing cremated remains
• Helps arrange and conduct funeral and memorial services in a professional, organized and caring manner consistent with company policies and procedures
• Assists in funeral services by: parking of cars; ushering; driving funeral vehicles; assisting at chapel and church services; assisting at the cemetery; delivering of flowers, caskets, urn, photos and other personal keepsakes or mementos of families; setting up and removal
• Assist in the preparation of funeral and memorial services: making memorial folders, video tributes, obituaries, etc.
REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS
• Current state-issued driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
• Completion of or currently enrolled in a dual degree training program at an accredited mortuary college or technical school specializing in funeral and mortuary science as required by state law and as prescribed by each state board
• This position requires power: reaching, pulling, and pushing
• Knowledge of computers and some software including MS Office required
• High level of compassion and integrity
• Good communication skills
• Problem-solving skills
• Ability to multitask and set priorities
• Extremely detail-oriented
