Althea Artis joined the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service in October of 2018. She is originally from Bronx, New York and currently resides in Southern California. Althea Artis is currently an online adjunct instructor at the Dallas Institute. She studied clinical psychology at the doctorate level at Capella University, and currently holds three Master of Arts degrees from Azusa Pacific University in the areas of Pupil Personnel Counseling, School Psychology, and Special Education. At APU, she also earned credentials in School Psychology and School Counseling. Althea obtained her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Laverne. Currently she is pursuing her PsyD doctorate degree in Mental Health Administration at Ashford University and anticipates graduation is in fall of 2019. Althea has over 15 years of practice teaching and developing online courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. She also brings over 19 years of experience working as a school psychologist, a school counselor, and a special education teacher. “It gives me great pleasure to teach, learn, and facilitate with such a diverse student population from all over the world,” she says. “Online learning has allowed individuals who would not ever thought of obtaining their degree the opportunity to do so. I am very pleased to be teaching and working online with such wonderful diverse students and staff members, and grateful to be involved with such a new innovative way of learning. In her leisure, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and meeting new people.
