Consortium Agreements

Consortium Courses at Dallas Institute of Funeral Service

Sometimes, students may need to take a course at one of our partner funeral service colleges to stay on track with their program. Through a consortium agreement, you can take approved courses at another accredited institution while still receiving your financial aid through Dallas Institute.

How It Works

  • Partner Schools:Dallas Institute of Funeral Service students may be enrolled in select courses at Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service or Mid-America College of Funeral Service.
  • Credit Transfer:Approved courses count toward your Dallas Institute degree just like courses taken here.
  • Financial Aid:All federal financial aid continues to be processed and disbursed through Dallas Institute.
  • Billing:You will only be billed by Dallas Institute. There are no additional costs for taking consortium courses.
  • No Change in Status:You always remain a Dallas Institute student. The only thing that changes is the “course shell” — meaning the system may show the class as being offered through a partner school. Everything else (your program, degree progress, and financial aid) stays the same.

What You Need to Know

  • The college will handle the consortium process on your behalf.
  • We will prepare and complete the necessary paperwork and send the form to you for confirmation.
  • Once everything is approved, you’ll be enrolled in the consortium course without needing to take extra steps.

Important Notes

  • Delivery Method:Consortium courses may be offered in-person, online, or hybrid, depending on the host college.
  • Grades & Progress:Final grades from the host college will transfer back to Dallas Institute and count toward your Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
  • Support:You remain a student of Dallas Institute and should contact our advising, registrar, and financial aid offices with any questions.
