Job Position: Licensed Funeral Directors; Interns, Mortuary
Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Funeral Director to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess an understanding of the funeral service profession, providing compassion, support and quality work to families during their time of loss. This role requires an Indiana funeral directors license (or a student working to obtain such), excellent communication skillls, some computer knowledge, and the ability to act and dress professionally, to ensure that all aspects of the funeral process are handled with dignity, respect, and quality care.
Duties
- Conduct all aspects of funeral services, including planning, directing, and conducting ceremonies.
- Transportation and receiving of deceased.
- Offer counsel, comfort, and correct information to bereaved families.
- Go on removals, perform embalmings, and final preparation of the deceased.
- Coordinate funerals and memorial services, burials, as well as directing pallbearers, clergy, mourners, flower arrangements, and donations as needed.
- File proper legal documentation, such as death certificates, permits, insurance, and social security.
- Practice basic knowledge anatomy, embalming skills, and cosmetic application.
- Communicate with other staff members to ensure the service runs as smoothly as possible.
- Answering phones, taking death calls and helping with legal questions families may have.
Qualifications
- Valid, current Indiana Funeral Directors license or be in schooling for such
- Knowledge of anatomy and willingness to learn the process, tools, and equipment of the trade.
- Strong communication skills.
- Care and compassion for our customers.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work and be on call flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to do heavy lifting.
- Ability to dress and act professionally.
- Live in Greene County area or be willing to relocate.
