Become a Preceptor

Dallas Institute is a member of Pierce Mortuary Colleges, Inc. Other member educational institutions include the Mid-America College of Funeral Service, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, and Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Atlanta, Georgia. As a result of this joint association, the combined students and faculty of all three colleges share in many advantages which a single institution alone could not provide.

The positive growth of Dallas Institute and its programs is evidenced by its continued recognition and accreditation by the American Board of Funeral Service Education. The Associate of Applied Science Degree in Funeral Service, also authorized by the Texas Workforce Commission, provides evidence of positive direction and efforts by the college to prepare its students to better meet the needs of a more sophisticated consumer public as well as to address changes within a progressive and dynamic profession such as funeral service.

As you well know, a major part of mortuary science education is hands-on.  This is where you can help us with educating tomorrow’s funeral directors.  As a requirement for graduation, students must participate in both embalming clinical experiences as well as a funeral directing practicum.  This requires the student to obtain practical exposure to the principles of embalming and funeral directing as taught in the classroom setting.  This practical exposure is completed under the supervision of licensed embalmers and funeral directors.  We need your help and expertise as one of these teaching funeral homes.

If interested, please contact the Academic Dean at the college at 214-388-5466.
